At our company, sustainability is not about standing still – it’s about purposeful progress. While we have experienced growth in recent years, our energy consumption has notably declined.

Over the past five years alone, we have reduced our energy usage by more than 27% – a testament to what can be achieved when efficiency and responsibility go hand in hand.

We have also made substantial progress in reducing our heating requirements: Since 2021, we have lowered our gas consumption by more than 30%. This achievement was not the result of major investments, but rather of conscious, collective action in our daily routines. Initiatives such as transitioning to a four-day workweek, offering flexible remote work options, and raising awareness among employees – supported by a few strategically placed reminders on thermostats – played a key role.

At the same time, we are increasingly investing in renewable energy. Our photovoltaic systems now make a valuable contribution to our self-sufficiency by supplying clean electricity – straight from the roof into our daily operations.

For us, one thing is clear: economic success and climate protection are not mutually exclusive. On the contrary – they are closely interconnected.

Energy-Efficient Preheating in Selective Soldering Processes

Are you wondering how you can sustainably reduce energy consumption during selective soldering?
With the selective cluster heating from SEHO!

In selective soldering processes, typically only individual components need to be soldered. The preheating process cannot be omitted for process-related reasons, but why preheat the entire assembly if the thermal energy is only required at a few points?

The selective cluster heating consists of a total of 30 small, energy efficient pulsar emitters that can be individually programmed for the smallest areas and switched on depending on the product.

This new heating concept is therefore not only particularly temperature-friendly for the assembly, but also significantly more energy efficient than any other preheating system: assembly areas that do not require heat are not heated up and therefore do not have to be cooled down after the soldering process, which saves additional energy.

Clean & environmentally friendly – is that possible?

We also asked ourselves this question at SEHO and found a solution that is very satisfactory, especially from an environmental point of view.

Conventional conventional cleaning agents have a significant impact on our environment.

Nowadays, compared to the past, there are some sustainable alternatives to the classic cleaning chemicals, which is of course positive. But who of us doesn’t know this when shopping in the drugstore? The shelves are full of products from different manufacturers, where you first have to get an overview. If you compare environmentally friendly products with the “classic” ones, you’ll find that the environmentally friendly variety is usually a bit more expensive. However, it offers added value for the environment.

Since we at SEHO are aware that we only have this one planet, we have chosen the sustainable products. Thus, we at SEHO also focus on the aspect of environmentally friendly and recyclable in the field of cleaning products.

By choosing the brand of a well-known German company, we have chosen ecological products that are, according to the company, “Gentle to humans, animals and the environment”.

Would you like your own cup?

Who doesn’t know them, the classic hot drink vending machines with disposable plastic cups?

I think everyone is aware that this creates a lot of plastic waste. That’s why we at SEHO started looking for alternatives to tackle this problem as well.

We came across a local drinks retailer from Bad Mergentheim who has a solution for exactly this. This offers hot drinks machines where you can choose between the two options of paper cups or your own cup (reusable). In addition, there are only whole beans in the machine, which are freshly ground after pressing the beverage selection button.

But now we asked ourselves the following additional question: “How can we make the use of the reusable variant more attractive in order to avoid waste?” As a solution, we decided to lower the price for a drink including a paper cup by €0.05 in comparison to make your own cup more expensive.

In the summer of 2022 we took another step towards sustainability and also got rid of the paper cups. This means that you can only use your own cup, which saves us around 10,000 paper cups a year. But let’s be honest, the coffee tastes much better from your own cup than from the paper cup, doesn’t it?
